Dear Pumas,

I am pleased to announce that this past Friday I hired Dr. Bill Hogan to serve as our Vice President for Advancement of the Saint Joseph’s Phoenix Project.

Dr. Hogan, a 1974 graduate, brings exactly what we need to this position:  the experience, qualifications, knowledge of our alumni and friends, and record of attaining measurable results.

Hogan’s focus will be totally on advancing the Phoenix Project through promotion and fund raising.  He will certainly hit the ground running and is already advancing many ideas on how he will deliver the needed results of this position.

Many of our alumni will remember Bill.  He was a key member of the highly successful Puma basketball team from 1970-74.  He returned to SJC in 1981.  During his ten-year stay he was Director of Athletics, Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Associate Professor, and Business Manager.  He is a friend, coach, teacher and confidant to thousands of people who know and love St. Joseph’s College.

Hogan’s other professional experience includes a variety of leadership positions in athletics and fund raising at University of San Francisco (1991-2006) and Seattle University (2006-present).

He received his Bachelor’s degree from Saint Joseph’s College and his Masters and Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Bill will begin his new position later this week.  I am sure he will be in touch with each one of you in the very near future.

Hiring a Vice President for Advancement of the Saint Joseph’s Phoenix Project shows my commitment to the future of St. Joseph’s and the collective belief of my entire team that the resurgence of our mission is not far off.

But remember, we will need your help.

Please join me in welcoming Bill to my team.

Fr. Barry Fischer,
Rector, Saint Joseph's
